The Ingredience Series

Perri Roux

Perri Roux (pen name for Pamela Richardson) was raised in North American suburbia, her heart firmly entrenched in France. Her first novel, The War Around the Corner, was workshopped at Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference. Her second novel, Tano Chere, was shortlisted in the William Faulkner-William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition.

Her latest project, The Ingredience Series, is a collection of lighthearted mysteries set in France (think Chocolat meets The Thin Man, with nods to Colette and P. G. Wodehouse). The series currently comprises two books, Eye in the Sky (which garnered a partial scholarship to the 2012 Summer Literary Seminar in Lithuania), and Little Saints, Force Majeure. The third entry is in progress.

Perri's short story, The Blank Family Quirkiness, placed as semi-finalist for the Able Muse Write Prize for Fiction and was published in The Write City e-zine. As a singer songwriter (Pamela Richardson), she has several CDs, with a new one scheduled for release in 2013.  In 2005, her lyrics for “Tipton’s Vein of Silver” – a tribute song about singer songwriter Gene Clark – were published in the biography, Mr. Tambourine Man: The Life and Legacy of The Byrds’ Gene Clark, by John Einarson (Backbeat Books). Memberships include Publisher's Marketplace, the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP), Chicago Writers Association (CWA), and Chicago Women in Publishing. Works in progress include the next Ingredience book, a sequel to Tano Chere, and a graphic novel about a Belle Époque time traveler and her pet fox (an expansion of her 2009 chapbook, The Time Traveler’s Primer).

Perri lives in Chicago with her husband, assorted cats, one dog, a handsome rooster and his three French hens. The choice of a pen name was driven by SEO: search results for her birth name frequently include nonfiction writers, legal professionals, and variations on the novel Pamela, by Samuel Richardson :)
